Focus, focus, focus at the Mountain Shakespeare Festival! We witnessed such concentration at the performance of Comedy and each actor triumphed. I haven't had this much fun doing rep in a very long time!
It is inspiring that here in the Gazebo, in a place that no one has ever heard of, Pine Mountain Club, such skills only dreamed of in many of the waiver theatres in Hollywood are happening here, just because actors enjoy doing it. The joy of creating a character, the joy of making an audience laugh, maing them cry, making them realize perhaps something in themselves, or something that they want to have inside of them...it is such a priviliege.

Peter, you're such a good sport. We couldn't hear our cues backstage during Comedy of Errors due to the party next door!

What a great weekend it turned out to be! Pete, I told Kat today that the calendar on this site says the show on the 25th is at 2:00 rather than 8:00. ???

I may have seen that look but, I thought that she was thinking of something else...maybe I shouldn't have done my 'bug on the windshield' imitation at that moment...

The process of putting a show together is different for each actor. Here in Pine Mountain and the 'Mountainshakes.org', we are surrounded by mountains, Jeffrey pines, streams and quiet glens. Though there is much wildlife up here in Pine Mountain, I have, on occasion, seen the elusive, inward looking, yet entertaining Thespian, traipsing the hills and valleys, talking and gesticulating to him/herself with brows knitted and eyes fiery in concentration. The process of learning of a character's reactions and finding the ins and outs of that character are wonderful, tedious, frightening and illuminating with the discovery of commonalities betwee character and actor so interesting and enlightening as to be otherworldly. I am entranced by the whole thing but, I wonder what the squirrels are saying about all of this?

Shakespeare covered--now I'm struggling with my hair for "Can't." Finger waves? Pincurls? I even watched tutorials on youtube because the websites with written directions may as well have been Greek.

Can we do an 80s style Shakespeare play next year? How about 90s grunge? Those looks are easy for me. I went blonde to be a twin--I'd get a spiral perm for an 80s Shakespeare production!

To perform, to watch Shakespeare or any other playwright in such an idyllic setting is a feast for the senses. That setting is, in relaity, Pine Mountain Club. Unfortunately for all writers, references, and bloggers Frazier Park. We are no where near Frazier Park. Frazier Park is twelve miles and a world away from Pine Mountain CLub.
Don't get me wrong, Frazier Park has its scenery and environement but, come on, what does the Mountain Shakespeare Festival and Pine Mountain Club have to do? Change the stationary? Change location? Get our own zip code....not a bad idea but, we do theatre, not Postal deliveries.
I wonder how many possible guests/patrons decide not to attend when they discover thaqt Mountainshakes.org is in Frazier Park?
As far as a geographic locater on a map, Frazier is there and Pine Mountain isn't but, isn't there some distinction that can be made to differentiate between Frazier Park and Pine Mountain?

Can you believe there were over 100 people in the audience?! What a lovely opening night! Only a few glitches, and I made it through the performance without losing my mustache.

Whew!

And today... a matinee!
